Suvi H. Miller

Ms. Miller is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who provides treatment to children, adolescents, families and adults through supportive and collaborative approaches to therapy. Ms. Miller also has a specialization in trauma treatment with children and adolescents.

Ms. Miller has been practicing in the clinical arena since 1992, providing clinical assessment and treatment to children, adolescents, and their families, as well as working with adults. Her approach to treatment is to work collaboratively with clients and families, allowing for flexibility to address the needs of each individual. Her approach is strengths-based, building on the areas of strength inherent in each person and the family system.

Ms. Miller has extensive experience working with very young children, school-aged children, and adolescents. Areas of practice include issues of grief and loss, separation and divorce, anxiety, mood disorders, behavioral problems, and sensory integration issues, as well as families dealing with high-conflict divorce. Ms. Miller specializes in the treatment of trauma in children and adolescents, having extensive treatment experience in this area. She utilizes many methods of intervention with clients, which are evidence-based and researched practices. These include interpersonal psychotherapy, play therapy, filial therapy, art therapy, sand tray therapy and cognitive behavioral therapy.

Education and Experience

Ms. Miller received her Master’s degree in Clinical Social Work from New York University in 1992, where she practiced until she came to Colorado in 1995. She has held her clinical social work licensure in Colorado since 1995. Throughout her career, Ms. Miller has worked in numerous settings with multi-disciplinary teams including hospital, residential treatment, school and outpatient settings. From 1996-2006 Ms. Miller worked for the Denver Children’s Advocacy Center as a clinician and clinical supervisor to staff therapists and graduate school interns. At the Advocacy Center, Ms. Miller provided assessment and treatment services to children ages 18 months to 18 years of age who had been victims of trauma.

Ms. Miller has been an adjunct faculty member at the University of Denver Graduate School of Social Work since 2003. She serves as an expert witness in the area of child sexual assault and frequently provides consultation and court testimony in multiple jurisdictions in the greater Denver metro area and statewide.

Ms. Miller is also an experienced presenter in her field and is available to present to small and large groups, or as a consultant.
